100 Games of the 00's: An Introduction

The past ten years were important.

Any chunk of time that large is going to be important, but I know that for this group, these contributors, the past ten years changed our lives. We all began adventures: Some of us found our callings at long last. Some of us ventured to brave new worlds far from our family and friends in the name of our passion. Some of us took our first steps into adulthood, and others dove in completely and are now proud parents.

And while these experiences couldn’t possibly be more varied, the people more diverse and amazing, you put us all in a room and we have one shared cultural experience to bind us together – games.

Over the next few weeks, this blog is going to post 100 games from the past ten years that touched us in some way. These are the games we love; the ones that excite us, or make us feel, deeply. When those real-life adventures got to be too much, these are the games we’d escape into. Where we could be vengeful gods, rock stars, helpless test-subjects or misguided giant-slayers – and we were all these things together. We would share these experiences with each other, giving us something to talk about and an excuse to get to know one another.
